Diagnosis With Brief Discussion

Discussion
- Women in fifth decade
- Intrathoracic extension: 1-3 % of thyroidectomy
- No connection btw cervical and intrathoracic tumors: less than 1 % of intrathoracic goiter / Arise from ectopic thyroid tissue
- Pathology: multinodular mass with hemorrhage, fibrosis, cyst formation and calcification (ca. 2-3 %)
- Smooth or lobulated, anterior/middle med. mass
- CT: high CT number with increased enhancement/ multifocal low density, non-enhancing areas / foci of calcification
- MR: coronal sagittal orientation / heterogenous signal on both T1 & T2 WI
- RI: 123-I, 131-I, 99m-Tc (detect 93%,exclude 100%) False (+) in hiatal hernia, thymus(Hassall’s corpuscle)
